Multilingual Catalogs Implemented for Elektro-Material

Background information

The production of the "Top-Sortiment Leuchten" and "Elektro-Haushaltsgeräte" catalogs for Elektro-Material AG has been completed. The catalogs, available in three and two languages respectively, are fully generated using the advastamedia® Print Engine. This means that article and product data are automatically imported, structured for print output, and produced in multiple languages following a correction process.

Kittelberger Supports Elektro-Material AG with Automated Catalog Production

Elektro-Material AG publishes partial catalogs at short intervals, such as the "Top-Sortiment Leuchten" and "Elektro-Haushaltsgeräte" catalogs. This allows products to be introduced more quickly and enables better responses to customer needs and market changes compared to a single, comprehensive annual catalog.

Even during data structuring, relationships between data elements are analyzed and the catalog structure is defined. The data foundation for catalog production is the advastamedia®/O product media database. Approval and correction processes (including a web-based correction tool) are coordinated, and translations are handled via standardized exports from advastamedia®/O, which can be re-imported after translation. Before the data is sent to the print shop, data refinement and prepress work are carried out.

A special feature of the EM catalogs is the extensive use of pictograms, especially in the lighting catalog. In collaboration with colleagues from the software development team, a pictogram mapping system based on technical data was developed. Whereas the pictograms used to be placed manually, this task can now be handled fully automatically thanks to the new mapping system.
