Publication Generator for Bosch Home Comfort

Background information

With the Publication Generator, Kittelberger has developed an application for Bosch Home Comfort that enables optimized product navigation tailored to each output channel. This allows the product navigation to be individually adapted for catalogs, eShops, or websites.

How the Publication Generator Works

The Publication Generator is based on a master categorization that serves as the foundation for all use cases. This master categorization is always visible within the tool.

Using various functions, the product navigation can be edited so that only the relevant categories are displayed, depending on the specific publication.

Each use case requires a different navigation structure: for example, a printed catalog calls for a flat hierarchy, while a website can support more in-depth navigation levels.

Easy Maintenance of Product Navigation

Within the application, management is based on the concept of a “publication,” which consists of a combination of brand, country, and use case.

Depending on the status of a category within the application, it will either be included in the resulting publication or not:

  • Activated
  • Deactivated
  • No assigned product (therefore locked)
  • Deleted

Each category can be edited either through the context menu (right-click in the category tree) or via a table view.

Categories can also be rearranged within the same level using drag-and-drop, allowing for customized product hierarchy displays. For instance, in Spain, air conditioning units may be more relevant than heating systems and would be positioned higher accordingly.

“With the Publication Generator, we offer our clients a solution that enables easy maintenance of product navigation based on a centralized master categorization,” says Rebecca Bodmann, Project Manager at Kittelberger.
