Carl Götz Group: Digitalization in the Timber Trade with Our Central Software Solution
Background information
With the introduction of our central system, the Carl Götz Group will save time and effort in the future when providing and distributing data to customers, suppliers, partners, and service providers. The new system, which has been integrated with the existing ERP system, also offers a comprehensive maintenance interface and makes data available for additional projects and output channels, such as the webshop.
Our online solution is based on a central database that stores all product data and associated media. Additional processes related to content organization are supported by our Digital Asset Management system, which enables the management and provision of digital content and media.

The Carl Götz Group is a leading company in the timber trade industry. With a global procurement approach and a strong focus on wholesale principles, the group, headquartered in Neu-Ulm, continuously opens up new sources of supply. Guided by the founding philosophy: “To act responsibly like a merchant, without ever losing sight of humanity,” the Carl Götz Group has grown into a company with over 700 "family members" across 13 locations. The company now offers more than 20,000 products. In media terms, this translates to over 200,000 images.
Over the years, both the product variety and the complexity of existing media data have increased. Currently, there are more than 200,000 images that need to be organized and made available for various output channels.
With the new system, large volumes of data can be prepared for different output channels and made available online via a user interface. Media assets are centrally managed—including links to the corresponding products—and can be provided through an online application along with their metadata: easy searching and finding of media, secure data sharing without annoying email attachments, fast content delivery for suppliers and partners, and control of access and visibility.
Efficient Data Management
"To provide our customers with service, quality, and expertise, efficient data management is essential."
Based on these requirements, Kittelberger advised and supported one of the leading timber wholesalers in their digital transformation.
