The story begins in the early 1920s, a time when there were no power tools and all heavy work had to be done by hand. To ease this hard labor, American inventor Edmond Michel developed the world’s first electrically powered circular hand saw in 1923.

In the 1950s, the company changed its name and became the SKIL Corporation. From the 1970s onward, SKIL began building a network of factories, service centers, and sales offices around the world. After being acquired by Bosch in 1996, SKIL’s growth continued to accelerate.
